ERIC VIGOUROUX AND JEAN BRUCY MADE IT TO SANTIAGO!

Stage 14 : La Serena – Santiago

La Serena had a foggy woke up this morning. The last special of the 35th edition of the Dakar was delayed by 1h15 minutes so that the helicopters could keep safety within the rules of the race.

In fact, the special stage was only 111 km followed by a neutralized portion and then another part of 15 km. The terrain was not particularly favorable to the Trophy Truck and quite dangerous, but the crew managed to take the car at its best performance

“In this part, explains the French, we finished 16th, which shows well the reality of things. In the other hand, the small portion of 15 km got as all excited because we started right behind Regis Delahaye, who is navigated by Alex, my former co-driver. We went as fast as we could, until the moment they passed us!
Unfortunately then, we found ourselves behind a Kamaz truck, crazy, with one of its tires completely destroyed and never let us go through, even though he signed him with our Sentinel. We finished behind a cloud of dust, and we could have lost it all.”

In spite of the problems, the conclusion of the Dakar is more than just positive for Eric Vigouroux and Jean Brucy, who had some special privileges at the end of the race.

“The first week was quite hard, because I underestimate the difficulties of the terrain and the problems that altitude could cause. Then, the second week, the terrain was a lot more compacted and hard, on tracks that fit better our Trophy Truck. I am happy that  I was able to measure myself against some fast competitors when the tracks allowed me. And even if I am sort of disappointed by our sportive result, I am completely satisfied with the reliability of our car, and that is a huge reward. We learned a lot, and we will prepare the future as soon as we get back home.”
